Sega announced, way back in the 2006 E3, that they are producing a sequel to Golden Axe, the side-scrolling hack-and-slash arcade favorite of the '90s, for the Xbox 360 and the PS3. Since then, not one word was said about it. However, it seems that the project is indeed alive, according to this scan of the November 2007 issue of Play Magazine. Furthermore, there's already a confirmed title--Golden Axe: Beast Rider, and it is being developed by Secret Level. The female protagonist is still Tyrus Flare from the old games, and the game involves, as the title suggests, riding several different beasts across a fantasy land, apart from the usual hack-and-slashing. To top it all off, there will be lots and lots of blood--and "skin". Woohoo, nude barbarian women. I just really hope it retains the original games' style of play.
